Trent Burge grew up a keen cricketer and footballer, revelling in the camaraderie and competition of local teams. He followed this passion to England, spending several years playing seasons of cricket and returning home to work Barossa vintage. Double Trouble blends two outstanding regional varieties in tribute to the boy’s time in this ‘double life’ of one endless summer.

Shiraz Cabernet is the classic Australian wine duo, boldly generous yet approachable. To bring out the best from the Barossa region, we combine valley-floor Shiraz with cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, from a family-owned vineyard in neighbouring Eden Valley.

Barossa Boy Double Trouble salutes teammates, on the field and in the vineyard. Created for sharing.

Vintage Summary

A cooler-than-average 2023 vintage provided an extended ripening period, enhancing natural acidity and rewarding patient vineyard work with lifted varietal expression and vibrancy. Barossa Valley Shiraz meets Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon — a classic blend capturing the Barossa’s valley-floor power and the Eden’s cool-climate finesse.

Maturation

Matured for 16 months in a selection of French oak (90%) and American oak (10%). Bottled with minimal intervention, no pre-bottling filtration, and suitable for vegans.

Tasting Notes

Deep satsuma plum red with hints of purple hue. The nose is lifted with ripe blueberry and blackcurrant layered over subtle spearmint, vanilla bean, milk chocolate licorice, and mixed spice. The palate is mid-weight yet generous, showcasing vibrant blueberry fruit wrapped in fine, elegant tannins. Subtle oak integration and a whisper of peppermint lead to a long, moreish finish.

Created for sharing —Best enjoyed with good mates and dishes like crispy skin Peking duck with plum sauce.
