Established in 1896 by Barossa settler, Johannes Basedow, the foundations of the winery were laid at 161 Murray Street, Tanunda and built of ironstone quarried locally. The Basedow family originally named the site “Illaparra”, which means ‘gums by the creek’.

The Burge family became custodians of this historic site in the 1990s and since then the family offer unique wine-tasting experiences designed demystify and inspire. Now, Underground Barossa is home to Trent Burge's Barossa Boy Wines .

The tasting experiences are delivered by our team of warm, passionate & welcoming hosts, our premium wines are accompanied by delicious snacks and morsels to match, with many a fascinating back story making for an unforgettable visit.

Barossa Boy tastings are available to book online Thursday – Friday 10 am – 3 pm, Saturday 11 am – 3.30pm. Last booking for our Food and Wine tastings are 1.5 hours before closing time.

We are closed Sundays.
