Trent Burge grew up a keen cricketer and footballer, revelling in the camaraderie and competition of local teams. He followed this passion to England, spending several years playing seasons of cricket and returning home to work Barossa vintage. Double Trouble blends two outstanding regional varieties in tribute to the boy’s time in this ‘double life’ of one endless summer.

Shiraz Cabernet is the classic Australian wine duo, boldly generous yet approachable. To bring out the best from the Barossa region, we combine valley-floor Shiraz with cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, from a family-owned vineyard in neighbouring Eden Valley.

Barossa Boy Double Trouble salutes teammates, on the field and in the vineyard. Created for sharing.

Vintage Summary

2022 saw a cooler than average growing season that led to extended ripening conditions and retention of natural acidity. As a result, patience was required to wait for optimum harvest dates ensuring full flavour development and acid balance was reached. Patience was rewarded with outstanding flavours and varietal definition with exceptional quality across all white varietals.

Maturation

Once the varietals are blended, the wine is transferred to a combination of American and French oak hogsheads for 14 months before bottling (unfined and unfiltered)

Tasting Notes

Deep red with purple hues, a vibrant and youthful colour. Lifted blackcurrant aromas with hints of cooler climate spearmint cabernet notes. Shiraz contributes intense raspberry aromas with sweet cinnamon spice. Working together the two varieties complement giving a classic rich fruit-driven aroma with a background of spice and oak. the palate continues the harmony of the two varieties by showing the bold fruit of shiraz coupled with the fine linear tannins of cool climate cabernet. a seamless wine on the palate balanced well with fine French oak.
