PERCIVAL NORMAN
2021 BAROSSA SHIRAZ
Our Great Grandfather Percival was an entrepreneur of his time. He started the first family winery during the Depression, which along with some of his vineyards, still stands proudly today. A well-known writer and poet, his hardworking nature and perseverance continue to inspire us. Cheers Percy, this one’s for you.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with a bright red hue. This wine entices you in with cherry ripe, raspberry and cinnamon spice aromas and toasted oak overtones. The palate is rich and intense with raspberry and mocha flavours and strong velvet-like tannins on the finish. The oak is well integrated which allows the berry fruits to shine and leave you wanting more. This wine can be enjoyed now or can be aged gracefully well into the next 10 years.
STYLE
A classically big and bold Barossan Shiraz.
REGION
Sourced from long-term growers across the western, central and southern Barossa. Multiple vineyards provide parcels of their most premium fruit, specially chosen to make the best representation of this variety for rich bold Barossan Shiraz.
VINTAGE SUMMARY
The 2021 vintage was outstanding in many ways. Excellent growing conditions and a mild summer led to perfect ripening across most varieties. These conditions allowed our red wines to have intense, rich and balanced flavours and colours. Overall a high-yielding vintage with high-quality fruit.
MATURATION
Post malolactic fermentation the wine was rack and returned to 100% French oak hogheads and matured for 18 months.
